Importing Non-English Alphabet Characters via CSV Import

Last Updated:

Occasionally, when trying to import characters with accents, or non-English characters such as Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese etc., they appear as ???? within Beamery. See example below.

To prevent this from happening, you'll need to save the CSV with a specific encoding. Here are the steps you can take when saving your CSV:

File > Save as

Then select "CSV UTF-8" from the file type dropdown list.

CSVs saved with this encoding will show the correct characters in Beamery.

Important note, saving a file as "CSV UTF-8" must be done from the original file to preserve the non-English characters.
