Using Unavailable Candidates to Generate Suggested Contacts

Last Updated:

Here’s a situation familiar to sources worldwide: you keep finding the perfect candidates for your role, and then keep finding out they’re completely unavailable! While these candidates may not be ready to work for your company, you can make them work for you and your sourcing process.

Follow these steps to source for a role using unavailable candidates.

  1. Create a new Pool, or you can use an existing Pool if you already have one.
  2. When you find a perfect candidate on Social Media who is unavailable, use the Beamery Extension to add them to Beamery anyway. Adding them to Beamery means that the candidate can benefit from being in your talent community, and when they are ready for a new adventure, they will already be aware of your company and how great it is to work there! Aim to add 3-6 candidates like this to Beamery.
  3. Add your ideal but unavailable candidates to your Pool from step 1
  4. In your Pool from step 1, click on ‘Suggested Contacts’ and you will be presented with a list of suggestions of contacts who are likely to be a good fit for your Pool, based on the ideal but unavailable candidates you already added. For more information on how Suggested Contacts comes up with suggestions, see this article.

  5. Add or dismiss contacts from this list. As you do this, Suggested Contacts will learn more about what you’re looking for, and the suggestions will become more refined.
