Role Comparison in Beamery has many use cases, but all with common goals - ensuring consistency, improving efficiency and unlocking opportunities. By comparing the skill compositions of roles within Work Architecture, users are able to articulate logical progression of skills within a Role Family, identify internal mobility paths and more.
Compare Roles
In order to view roles side by side, there are two paths a user can take.
Within the Role Comparison viewer
- Within your Work Architecture, click on ‘Compare roles’ in the left-hand navigation menu.
- In the first column, use the search bar to locate a specific role within your Work Architecture.
- Repeat this for additional roles you would like to compare.
Directly from a specific role
- Within the Work Architecture, navigate to a specific role.
- In the top right-hand corner, click on the ‘Compare roles’ button.
- Use the input box to locate a second role to compare.
- The Role Comparison viewer will open, displaying the roles side by side.
- Use the following sections to add any further roles you would like to compare.
To replace a role with another whilst in the Role Comparison viewer, use the ‘X’ to remove one or multiple roles and repeat the above process.
Manage Skills within Role Comparison
When comparing roles side by side, users can manage their Work Architecture skills directly within the Role Comparison viewer and sort column headers to sort skills by a specific characteristic. The following functionalities are available and mirror the process described within this support article:
- Add skill
- Edit skill (proficiency and required status)
- Remove skill
- Edit approval status
Users with Suggester permissions can also complete suggestions within the Role Comparison viewer. Users with Read-Only permissions can use Role Comparison but not propose or make any edits.
All edits made within the Role Comparison viewer will be reflected within the role History Log.
