Suggested Contacts: New Experience Guide

Last Updated:

Find and shortlist the right talent with a smarter card-based layout and powerful filtering.

Overview

Beamery is introducing a new and improved version of Suggested Contacts, designed to help you find and shortlist the right talent more efficiently. The new experience features a card-based layout and a smarter filtering panel, and is currently available alongside the classic view so you can switch between them at any time. Two things to know about this release: results now include candidates whose resumes and profiles are written in languages other than English, and the right-hand filter panel narrows the candidate pool before AI Talent Match scoring runs.

Switching Between the New and Classic Experience

The new Suggested Contacts experience is enabled by default. When you open Suggested Contacts, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page confirming you’re using the new version.

If there is missing functionality which you need, try the ‘View in People’ button, before switching back. This will take all of the results you have filtered to the people grid and give you full access to bulk actions and the existing filters.

To switch back to the classic view, click "Switch back to classic" on the right-hand side of the banner. If you’re in the classic view and want to return to the new experience, look for the banner at the top of the page and click "Switch to new Suggested Contacts." Please let us know what you cannot do in the new experience using the survey, so that we can consider bringing that functionality into this new version.

Understanding the Card Layout

Results are displayed as a list of cards, ranked by match score. Each card shows:

  • Contact name, whether they have an attachment, and location
  • Match score — shown as a star rating and numeric score (e.g. 4.7). Hover over the score to see a breakdown across five dimensions: Job role, Skills, Seniority, Company size, and Industry. These are auto-calibrated from the vacancy job description.
  • Recent roles — the last three roles from the contact’s work experience, with an indicator if there are more (e.g. +9 more).
  • Quick actions — add a note, send a message, add to vacancy (typically used at pre-vacancy stage), or add to a pool.
  • You can also toggle “Show descriptions” at the top of the results list to display the role description alongside each experience entry.

Using filters to refine your results

A filter panel on the right-hand side lets you narrow down your results. There are currently four filters available. Once you’ve made your selections, click Apply to update results. Each filter section has a Clear option to reset it individually.

These filters define the candidate pool before Talent Match scoring runs, rather than filtering down results after the fact. So your selections shape which contacts go into the AI ranking, not just which ones appear after.

Why this matters: Top-ranked candidates are the ones who already meet the structural requirements of the role. You spend less time scrolling past unsuitable candidates and more time evaluating people worth a closer look.

Job role

Must match at least one (OR logic)

Search for job roles manually, or select from suggested roles from the Beamery taxonomy based on the role title in calibration. Contacts must have held at least one of the selected roles to appear in your results. Use this to anchor your search around a core title, or cast a wider net by including related titles (e.g. Lead Product Owner and Principal Product Owner).

Skills

Must match all selected (AND logic)

Search for skills manually, or select from suggested skills populated automatically from the calibration. Contacts must have all of the skills you select, so the more skills you add, the smaller and more targeted your results will be. We recommend selecting no more than two or three skills to avoid over-filtering.

Locations

Must be near at least one (OR logic)

Search for locations and set a radius (in miles) for each. These are automatically populated from the calibration. You can add multiple locations — contacts within the radius of your selected locations will be included. Use this when you’re open to candidates across multiple geographies or offices.

Ideal companies

Must match at least one (OR logic)

Search for and add target companies. Contacts must have worked at at least one of the companies you specify. Use this to focus on talent from specific competitor or target organizations.

Recommended shortlisting process

For the most effective shortlisting workflow, we recommend the following approach:

  • Create a sourcing pool (or use an existing one) before you begin reviewing contacts.
  • Apply filters to narrow your results to a manageable, high-quality list.
  • Review cards and add relevant contacts to your pool as you go.

This keeps your pipeline organized and ensures you capture strong candidates without losing track.

Multilingual search

Suggested Contacts now recommends candidates whose resumes and profiles are written in languages other than English. Role titles and skills are translated into the Beamery Taxonomy enabling approximately 100 languages, so a strong match in Portuguese, German, or Japanese ranks alongside English profiles instead of getting missed. All skills that are reconciled to a canonical skill will show in English.
